The Old Course at St. Andrews offer golfers final chance at glory in 2022. And what a glorious opportunity given this is the 150th Open Championship, hosted at St. Andrews for the 30th time, with players having the chance to join the likes of Seve Ballesteros, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods as winners of the Claret Jug at this venue.

Rory McIlroy headlines the action as the betting favorite, one who has collected three top-10 finishes already in majors this season. Hoping to get off the major schneid, the 2014 Champion Golfer of the Year has been held winless in the four big ones across the last eight years. Links specialist Jordan Spieth will attempt to capture the fourth major championship of his career, while the hottest name in the game, Xander Schauffele, will look to breakthrough for his first. Of course, eyes will still gravitate towards Tiger as he begins what may well be his last legitimate opportunity to contend in an Open at the Home of Golf.

With a star-studded field playing, the Old Course serving as a historic backdrop and the pressure on given this is the final major of the year, the 150th Open Championship is already shaping up to be one to remember. CBS Sports will update this story with scores and highlights below. Check out the live scores at the top of this story, a more detailed leaderboard, Round 1 tee times and a complete Open TV schedule coverage guide.

It has just passed 5:00 a.m. on the east coast of the United States with Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele just kicking off their Open Championships. They will look to track down Min Woo Lee who has gotten it to 4 under after making a double bogey on his third hole of the day.

Whoa, JT Poston birdies the first three holes to get to -3 and tie the lead. There’s currently a six-way tie at the top of the board with Poston, Cameron Tringale, Joo-Hyung Kim, Ian Poulter, Brandon Wu and Dean Burmester.

Of course Ian Poulter leads The Open after nearly hitting his first tee shot out of bounds. What an insane story it would be for him to go on to contend for a win on Sunday after leaving for LIV Golf earlier this year.

Justin Rose withdraws from the Open Championship with a back injury. Rikuya Hoshino is now in the field, and Aaron Rai has moved up to first alternate. Word is that Rose was unable to finish a practice round earlier this week because of his injury. Massive bummer to miss the last major of the year.
