SNOOP Dogg fans were given a fright when an old hoax resurfaced claiming that the rapper had passed away.
While phoney celebrity deaths are hardly new, Snoop Dogg became the latest in a long list of celebs to have fake rumors of their demise make the rounds – although it appears that he is a repeat victim of the strange prank.
Yes – despite debunked reports alleging that Snoop Dogg had died going viral over the weekend of July 9/10, 2022, Snoop’s representatives have reportedly confirmed that the 50-year old is still alive and kicking.
Instead, Snoop joined a long list of celebrities who have fallen victim to fake death announcements – and it is list that he is already a member of.
The rapper posted numerous updates to Facebook and Instagram over the weekend, but did not comment on the fake rumors.
Baseless reports that Snoop Dogg died went viral after fans first noticed an advert on YouTube claiming to reveal the rapper’s death.
The advert on the popular streaming site appeared to share that Snoop, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, was “found today by local police” – allegations that have been exposed as fake.
Another fraudulent Facebook page titled ‘RIP Snoop Dogg’ claimed that the Gin’ N’ Juice rapper had passed away “at about 11am on Saturday”, July 9, 2022.
The page racked up nearly one million likes before it was widely debunked and taken down.
Unfortunately, this wasn’t even the first time that Snoop Dogg has fallen victim to the false reports.
Sports pundit Gary Lineker sparked a panic among the rapper’s fans after tweeting about the passing of his dog, also named Snoop, back in 2019.
The hashtag ‘#RIPSnoop’ began trending following the tweet, causing renewed rumors that the American had instead passed away.
Gossip that Snoop had died also emerged in 2013, when some social media accounts again attempted to trick his fans into falling for his demise.
Thankfully, despite consistently falling victim to the cruel prank, none of the phoney reports over the years have managed to get a response from the rapper, and he continues to happily ignore the strange hoax.
