The 2022 Indianapolis 500 is set for Sunday, May 29, and after super fast qualifying sessions last weekend, “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” could be the fastest ever.

Sunday is the 106th running of the Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Scott Dixon will start on the pole for the second straight year.

Pre-race overage of the 2022 Indy 500 begins at 11 a.m. ET on NBC, and the green flag, signaling the start of the race, is set for 12:45 p.m. ET.

Mike Tirico will host the broadcast, and he’ll be joined by Danica Patrick as an analyst for pre-race, in-race and post-race coverage. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will also provide pre-race and in-race commentary, and James Hinchcliffe will work as an analyst as well.

However, because the track doesn’t expect to sell out its 240,000 (approximately) reserved grandstand seats, there will likely be a broadcast blackout for Indianapolis residents, who will have to wait to see NBC’s tape-delayed version later in the day.

Typically, the Indy 500 takes about two-and-a-half to three hours to complete, depending on the weather and number of in-race incidents.
